A grass roots group launched a new website last night. This group wants some serious examination of County Goverment and the duplicate services that we tax payers pay for. This website includes the most recent County Budget ($1.8m), links to County employee salaries and much more. They are looking for legislative “pests” in each district around Westchester County to keep an eye on what goes on and to contibuted to the blogs that will be a part of the site.
Connecticut and Massachusetts have reviewed and virtually eliminated duplicate taxes and have successfully shifted and coordinated services, why can’t we?
"The goal is to find waste at every level. If we put everything on the table, we might be able to end the county's distinction of being the highest taxed place in the country," Feiner said before the meeting. "The thing about county government, there's so much fat there. We could ease the problem people are having."
